Context / System / Detail / Outcome

Challenge

The objective was to create animated posters that capture the expressive nature of theatre while maintaining clear visual communication. The designs needed to balance dynamic motion with legible typography and establish a consistent visual language across multiple productions.

Solution

The visual concept draws inspiration from the color palette of the Deutsches Theater's corporate identity, translating it into a bold system of animated geometric forms and expressive typography. Each poster features a different theatre production while sharing a common design language that connects the series.

The animations were created in Adobe After Effects using a combination of custom keyframe animations, procedural effects, and typography presets. Motion was used not only as a decorative element but also to guide attention, establish rhythm, and reinforce the individual character of each production.

Throughout the design process, feedback sessions played an important role in refining the compositions. Reducing visual complexity and simplifying the information hierarchy resulted in clearer, more focused posters without sacrificing their expressive quality.

Outcome

The final outcome is a cohesive series of animated posters that extends traditional print design into motion. In addition to the digital animations, the posters were presented as augmented reality experiences, allowing static designs to come to life through interactive viewing and demonstrating how motion can enrich contemporary visual communication.
